American artist Jim Sanborn has built a formidable reputation for heady light sculptures that involve secret messages, codes, and puzzles. He has installed works all over the world, and today we will show one of Sanborn’s remarkable work – an incised copper and granite piece titled A,A which lights up the plaza in front of the new library at the University of Houston. Made mostly of copper and bronze, the sculpture is comprised of snippets of poems, novels and prose from languages from all over the world, including Arabic, Russian, Spanish and Chinese. At night a light inside shines through illuminating the letters on the walls and ground. Such a stunning display of languages. [source]
