Glassblowing is a glass-forming technique that involves inflating molten glass into a bubble with the aid of a blowpipe. A person who blows glass is called a glassblower or lampworker. The glassworker manipulates glass with the use of a torch on a smaller scale. And skillful worker can create various shape glassware.
Although glassblowing isn’t that difficult and building skills isn’t hard either, create something like Kazumi Ohno is definitely not easy. I was totally blown off by Ohno’s work and have no idea how she made these. Using a combination of glass blowing, lamp work, cut and polish, ground glass and gluing Kazumi meticulously and skillfully creates her pieces. Influenced by her childhood memory, many of Ohno’s works look like kids’ dream toys or fairytale wonderland. Of course, Ohno has other type of works. But we still love those that reminds us of our child dream ones mostly. [Site | Instagram]
