In today’s world, mental health is a priority, and the Playpod Sanctuary, designed by Bean Buro, reflects this through thoughtful architecture. Located in the scenic Tuen Mun mountains of Hong Kong, this three-story family home blends functionality with emotional well-being, providing a peaceful retreat.
Inspired by Nature and Cézanne
The design of Playpod Sanctuary takes inspiration from the peaceful landscapes of Paul Cézanne’s Provence. Bean Buro incorporated natural materials, calming green tones, and fluid shapes to evoke a serene atmosphere. The goal was to create a space that promotes relaxation and mental clarity.
Designed for Wellness and Comfort
More than just aesthetics, Playpod Sanctuary is designed to support mental health. The home features private, semi-private, and public areas, fostering both family connection and personal space. Open living areas and a rooftop terrace encourage interaction, while quieter spaces offer much-needed privacy.
Collaborative and Practical
The design process was a collaboration between the family and Bean Buro, ensuring the home met both practical and emotional needs. The result is a multifunctional space with playful design elements for the children and a welcoming lounge for guests.
Sensory and Material Choices
Materials like natural wood and terrazzo flooring blend nature with practicality. The home’s lighting and acoustics were designed to enhance sensory comfort, offering flexibility and tranquility throughout.
Playpod Sanctuary by Bean Buro showcases how architecture can seamlessly integrate mental wellness, making it a true sanctuary for modern living.
