When comes to church, giant stained glass window and high ceiling are something easily get attention. And the beautiful home converted from an empty church in Chicago has all those features and more. As with many of these sorts of architectural projectsâwhich intend to restore a space in a completely different wayâthe inside was gutted, but the shell of the structure remained intact.
This beautiful and majestic building was built by the collaboration of Linc Thelen Design and Scrafano Architects. The great room had its 25-foot ceiling exposed in order to showcase its timber beams, and a floating steel staircase was installed with a glass rail system. In every room, history and modernity collide, creating an eclectic feel to the overall space. The bold lines, neutral colors, and patterned decor are punctuated by a rustic charm, as a stained-glass window is visible from almost anywhere in the house. Many customed furniture was deisgned for this home to pair the original feature of the place. Also some interesting design was added into the room to meet the needs of its new owner, such as the a climbing wall for one of the teenage’s bedroom.
