When you first look at Christoffer Relander‘s Jarred & Displaced series, you might think it is somekind of photoshop work. However, they are actually created by utilizing double exposures technology. The series is carried out analogously, using medium format film that he scans and develops himself. A key tenet of the work is that no digital manipulation is involved, everything is in-camera.
The wooded landscapes captured in his photographs are mostly from the countryside in the south of Finland, an environment Relander missed and wished to revisit as an adult. And Christoffer cleverly treated the jars as time capsules which hold his childhood memories. Such a nice idea!
