Inspired by kirigami — an origami-like technique that employs cuts in addition to folds, Japanese designer Haruki Nakamura creates paper dolls that move by a simple touch or throw. Crafted from paper and cleverly constructed, each whimsical creature puts a paper twist on karakuri, or mechanized puppets. Just press, poke or prod the puppets in certain places, the puppets come alive in many unexpected ways – shedding surprising disguises, showcasing amazing acrobatics, or coming out of their shells. Really interesting! You can find more on Nakamura’s online shop. However, these toys are only shipped with Japan.
