Hong Kong is known for its high living costs and small living spaces. How to live big in small area is the toppest topic in Hong Kong’s interior industry. Here we have another successful examples of multi-functional transformable home design. Design by LAAB architects, this 309 Sqft apartment has a big kitchen, home cinema, a bathroom fitted with a bathtub, a guest room and also has pet-friendly amenities for three cats. Sounds unbelievable right? Keep reading…
How did they make that happen? As usual, the key here is pull-out furniture and parts of the apartment that can fill three or four functions. Take the bathtub as example. It’s directly across the room from the television. When used as a bathtub, there’s a waterproof screen that can be mechanically lowered from the ceiling for privacy. But, when guests come over, the top can be covered with wooden slats and turned into an extra, tiered sofa. So it can be used as extra sitting area or a bed for stay-over guest. In kitchen works as an office by covering the sink and a pull-put faucet. The shelves can then be lowered from the ceiling, where all the kitchen necessities can be found. Here are only two examples of how to achieve so many requirement within such small sapce. There are more clever and multi-functional designs in this apartment waiting for you to explore.
