As a mom, I found it’s getting harder and harder to get a nice photos from my son. I still remembered how natural and sweet smile I got from him when he was a baby. But since he went to daycare, school, those natural smiles started to disappear. Maybe because they started to know things or just because their teacher told them to say “cheese” when take photos. Now, all I get are those “cheesy/fake smile” which make me quite upset. I am not sure when I can get nice photo from my son again. But when I saw the incredibly beautiful photos of photographer Iwona Podlasińska‘s son, I started to think might I should change the way I took photo. Instead of asking him to pose for me, I probably should just try to capture them in a natural way, like Iwona Podlasińska does.
Podlasińska prefers capturing candid shots of her children doing what kids do, whether they’re exploring the outdoors, playing with their pet cat, or snuggling up to a stuffed animal. There are nothing quite special about the scenes but when you look at the photos, you can feel a kind of magic. You might wonder how Podlasińska make the kids stay in one place long enough to take a photo but the truth is that those are only seconds. Podlasińska conjures up these enchanting images on the spot, foregoing planned and posed photo shoots for spontaneous snapshots.
I know, not many of us can be Podlasińska. But maybe we should pay more attention to our kids and watch them grow instead of staring on our phone.
