Cardboard is one of most amazing material in my mind. They are soft compared with steel, they are strong compared with normal paper. You can use it to build a lot of unexpected things, like cardboard office. But today, we will present you something more sci-fi, some super detailed cardboard robots by Greg Olijnyk.
Greg Olijnyk runs his graphic design studio in Melbourne during the day, and spends his spare time crafting his cardboard robots as a labor of love. According to Olijnyk, all this passion comes from a lifetime reading sci-fi, collecting books of sci-fi illustrators, and building dozens of plastic Airfix models as a kid.
As a flexible, strong, and forgiving material, Olijnyk is able to use cardboard to build geometric, angular shapes that make the perfect parts for his droid subjects. Besides cardboard, Olijnyk also uses a range of tools, such as scalpel, steel ruler, tweezers, circle cutter, hole punch and glue etc., Using these simple tools, Olijnyk created the most amazing cardboard robots I’ve ever seen. But the humble artist says “they are all made up of just one simple piece of cardboard glued to another piece of cardboard, glued to another.”
