Manila-based artist Patrick Cabral (previous) is known for his sculptural portraits of wild animals and fantastical creatures that layer hundreds of paper cutouts into stunning three-dimensional works. His recent work features portraits of animals adorned with exquisite lace motifs stacked in layers of three-dimensional beauty.
Primarily composed with white, Cabral’s most recent pieces utilize gold for trimming. Dragon’s scales, hippo’s face, the golden color helps to heighten the depth and texture and make the animal standout. The metallic material also adds contrast to a pair of koi swimming in a circular yin and yang formation.
