I thought I have seen enough types of paper sculptures. But obviously, I am totally wrong! Because I haven’t seen Felix Semper’s stretchable paper sculptures. If you are as same as me, you definitely need to check this.
Felix Semper, a self-taught Cuban-American artist whose claim to fame is sculpture, doesn’t sculpt wood or stone; he sculpts paper. Importantly, these are NOT any ordinary paper sculptures. His paper sculptures are actually stretchable. At first glance, one might easily think that his sculptures are made of materials such as stone, plaster or wood. However, it is not until the artist unfurls them like an accordion.
In fact, this unique One of a kind sculpture is made from layers of paper glued together and carved. The bust can be transformed to open. This fluid movement gives the sculpture a playful mobility as opposed to the traditional esthetic.
Below are some of Semper’s awesome works and you can find the whole collection on his website felixsemper.com. To see the sculptures in all their paper-flexing glory, you should definitely check out his YouTube channel as well.
