Embroidery is the craft of decorating fabric or other materials using a needle to apply thread or yarn. To increase its richness, it can also incorporate other materials such as pearls, beads, quills, and sequins. Russian textile designer Katerina Marchenko uses that kind of technical to create mesmerizing floating illusions out of the hand-stitching embroidery designs. On these net-like tulle fabric, you can see colorful insects flutter, fish jump out of the water and birds soar through the air. Once the artist’s ethereal designs are complete, she releases her thread animals from the embroidery hoop and incorporates her work into her own handmade garments.
