Sun House is a truly magnificent project from Guz Architects. The mansion is located in Singapore and by local standards, is fairly compact. (compact? I want live in Singapore if that size is called compact!) Due to L-shape the architects free up more space for the inner courtyard which was private but with still a feeling of openness on the relatively densely constructed site, thus still allowing for good views and airflow. The ponds and pool are used as cooling elements for the building as well as visual focal points. Volumes and space were maximized as much as possible by sharing the open staircase and double height living space with the courtyard area. This is a really beautiful place. Perfect balance between nature and the building! The connection to nature is evidential throughout the house. The water elements within and views of surrounding landscapes have no doubt created calmness within the house. A great example of nature inspired project. [source]
