The Orient Express (wiki) was a long-distance passenger train service created in 1883 by the Belgian company that operated until 2009. The glamour and rich history of the Orient Express has frequently lent itself to the plot of books and films and as the subject of television documentaries.
In late October 2022, hospitality giant Accor revealed the first glimpse of its revamped Orient Express train. With interiors designed by respected French architect Maxime d’Angeac, the Nostalgie-Istanbul-Orient-Express train cars paid homage to their past while boldly marching into the future. The rebirth of the Orient Express is a technological challenge, meeting scientific and technical criteria, and an artistic and aesthetic challenge where the entire project has been conceived as a total work of art.
Inside the eighteen carriages, three of which have been transformed into suites, is an anthology of the finest French crafts. Woodwork, goldsmithing, marquetry… give life to an atmosphere over which hovers the poetry of a forgotten and rediscovered world, that of patience, observation, the time of exchanges, dressed dinners…
