Residing in Mount Maunganui, New Zealand, Ben Young is a self-taught artist who has been making glass sculpture for over 15 years. Young is known for his marine landscapes created by layering glass and concrete.
These mesmerizing sculptures makes you wonder does Young has some kind of superpower to freeze the beautiful scenes and cut a piece of it. Of course, there is no magic. Actually the truth is the artist envisions, hand-cuts, and carefully constructs layers of glass to evoke moving water. Then Young will decorate it with organically-shaped concrete topography, as well as other details such as lighthouse, or sailboat.
Young has crafted a number of sculptures to date and he sculpts these dreamlike interpretations of oceanic landscapes in spellbinding creativity. Take a look at Young’s work below. You will be amazed by how real the glass water form looks to you. If you like them, you can explore a larger collection of his works on Behance and Instagram.
